Although Whitney Houston hasn't acted since 1997's TV movie Cinderella, she's apparently in negotiations to star in - and executive produce - a remake of the 1976 drama Sparkle, alongside Jordin Sparks and Mike Epps!
The original film was a fictional story loosely inspired by The Supremes, and follows the three Williams sisters who start a girl group singing in their Harlem Church, only to have their personal lives deteriorate as they become famous and dealing with the territory of the spotlight, fame and drugs.
The American Idol 6th season winner Jordin Sparks will make her acting debut and is expected to play the title character of Sparkle, the most talented member of the group, while Whitney is being tapped to play her unsupportive and indifferent mother! Meanwhile, Epps is to play Satin, a stand-up comic who gets one of the girls addicted to drugs!
Mara Brock Akil, who created and executive produces BET's hit comedy The Game, wrote the script while husband Salim Akil will direct the film.Whitney Houston will executive produce this remake. No set start date as been announced, but cameras won't likely role until 2013, and will be in theaters on 2014!
Now lets take this into consideration, If Whitney can channel in her performance some of her own personal struggles that she's dealt with over the past few years, she could seriously give performance of her career which is be exactly what she needs to restore her image as the huge diva she once was!
What do U think? Do want to see Whitney on the big screen again? Do you think this film is the answer to whitney's prayers?
